Short answer: To get started with JoyClick, install it from the Mac App Store, open it once and grant access to the folders you want to use it in, then right-click in Finder to use the JoyClick actions.

1. Install JoyClick

Download JoyClick from the Mac App Store. JoyClick requires macOS 14.0+.

2. Grant folder access

Open JoyClick once. It shows a permission guide and asks you to authorize the folders it works in, such as Desktop, Documents and Downloads. You choose which folders to authorize. See Permissions for details.

3. Right-click in Finder

In Finder, right-click inside a folder or on a selection of files. JoyClick adds its actions to the context menu:

  • New File — create a new file in the current folder.
  • Copy To / Move To — send files to a favorite or recent destination.
  • Favorites — open a pinned folder or app.
  • Tools — Batch Rename, File Hash, Image Convert, Duplicate Files, Similar Photos and Disk Space.
  • Quick open — open Terminal, iTerm2, VSCode or Sublime Text in the current folder.

4. Make it yours

Open the Menu Editor to add, remove, reorder and group items, and assign custom icons. You can also enable an optional menu-bar item and launch JoyClick at login with a minimize option.
